Plant Based Orange Wines Virtual Class
October 8, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm EDTFree
Join Frances Gonzalez, Founder and Owner of VeganWines.com, the US’ first-ever 100% plant based online wine sales forum as she takes you on a tour of plant based orange wines from around the world.
Not only will we wet our orange wine loving taste buds, but we’ll also break down the wine making processes behind each of the bottles which result in the wines being 100% vegan.
Just like a plant based diet, which involves food that contains no animal products, vegan wine also has a 100% plant-based composition. Effectively, knowing that wine is produced with grapes, which in turn come from the vine, you would think that its composition can only be plant based right?
For example, winemakers may use specific products to produce a “glue” used to eliminate the yeast residues and particles suspended in the wine. In the wine growing universe, this process is called “clarification”. A large number of products are used to create the glue, such as egg white, fish glue or even casein, a particle that is found in milk. ALL of these ingredients are of animal origin.
The Wines that we all will be tasting are:
2017 Eraldo Dentici Grechetto IGT Esimio – Funky, exotic, and brimming with blood orange, dried flowers, and walnut, this one is the epitome of an oxidative orange wine.
2017 Terre del Gufo Alysso Bianco – Vujnu, a rare white grape from Italy, makes this fun, dry wine burst with bright meyer lemon, pear, and dried apricot.
2019 Tringario Ludopata Moscatel – An elegant yet rustic orange wine from Chile, this orange wine is intense, slightly bitter, and full of minerality and floral notes.
Comes sip along with us as we learn more about Orange and Plant Based Wines!
